Stochastic behaviour in the edge region of the SINP tokamak

چکیده
Recently, there has been a great deal of importance associated with the effects of magnetic field ergodization in the dynamics of fusion grade plasmas. It is believed that ergodization of the edge magnetic fields can effectively mitigate ELMs and thus improve the confinement properties. The role of the edge electric fields has also generated a lot of interest. We have carried an experimental scan of the applied vertical magnetic field (Bv) in the S.I.N.P. tokamak, wherein an improved confinement regime has been observed. The analysis of the edge region of this set of discharges have been carried out using a Langmuir probe. Nonlinear analysis tools have been invoked to study the possibility of stochastization in the edge plasma signals. We present the results of the above experiments and analysis in this paper.

BIASING OF SINP - TOKAMAK PLASMA IN HIGH - q REGIME
In SINP-TOKAMAK [an iron-core device having major radius = 30 cm, minor radius = 7.5 cm and B(toroidal) = 2 Tesla(maximum)] both high/normal q and very low q (VLQ) regimes can be achieved. Recently in this machine fast edge biasing experiment in the later regime revealed a change in plasma current profile at edge region leading to better confinement and longer duration of plasma current. The co...

In this article, some diagnostic systems and the preliminary results of the IR-T1** (Iran-Tokamak 1) are presented. Different diagnostic methods, including an array of soft X-ray detectors, visible spectrometer, electron cyclotron emission detector and electromagnetic measurement systems have been used and the hard disruptive instability occurring in the IR-T1 plasma during an ohmic heating...
متن کاملModel for current-driven edge-localized modes.
Edge-localized modes (ELMs) are cyclic disturbances in the outer region of tokamak plasmas that are influential in determining present and future tokamak performance. In this Letter, we outline an approach to modeling ELMs in which we envisage toroidal peeling modes initiating a Taylor relaxation [Phys. Rev. Lett. 33, 1139 (1974)10.1103/PhysRevLett.33.1139] of a tokamak outer region plasma. Rel...
متن کاملResonant pedestal pressure reduction induced by a thermal transport enhancement due to stochastic magnetic boundary layers in high temperature plasmas.
Good alignment of the magnetic field line pitch angle with the mode structure of an external resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) field is shown to induce modulation of the pedestal electron pressure p(e) in high confinement high rotation plasmas at the DIII-D tokamak with a shape similar to ITER, the next step tokamak experiment. This is caused by an edge safety factor q95 resonant enhancement...
متن کاملDesign and Testing of ECE Radiometer for Sinp-Tokamak
A multi channel ECE Radiometer, in the frequency range of 75 110 GHz, has been designed, constructed and tested for the SINP-Tokamak to diagnose second harmonic X-mode electron cyclotron emission (ECE). This frequency range covers approximately 80% of the plasma cross section in case of a magnetic eld of B = 1.5 T. For the maximum eld of the SINP-Tokamak B = 2.0 T, about 50% is covered. The ECE...
